Microsoft, TeleCityGroup and LAMDA Hellix Data Centers were among the companies cited for their innovation at the 6th Data Centres Europe Awards event held June 24 in Sophia Antipolis, France. The awards were part of the annual data center conference sponsored by BroadGroup. Microsoft’s Dublin facility was honored as Best Enterprise Data Centre Facility. The 550,000 square foot facility has no chillers, using outside air to cool the thousands of servers powering the company’s “Live” suite of online services for users in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Microsoft also said it can run its server rooms at temperatures of up to 95 degrees F (35 degrees Celsius), much warmer than most data centers, which typically range between 68 and 72 degrees.
