Green IT: expo encourages industry to become sustainability leader

IT professionals from across the UK gathered at an event today to learn about new products and ideas that can help IT become more environmentally friendly. Michelle Ward reports
The annual Green IT Expo, held in London today, offered attendees a chance to glean advice from the sponsoring companies and speakers, as the organisers continue to promote the importance of making IT more sustainable.
Speakers provided delegates with a variety of ways to save energy and reduce carbon in their IT departments, such as switching to cloud computing and powering off computers at night. The firm message was that there needs to be change in the IT industry and that the sector has the opportunity to be a leader in the transition to a low carbon economy.
