Toshiba targets $240m in containerized data center sales in 2015

The Japanese electronics giant Toshiba has stepped into the market for containerized data center solutions. The company has completed the set up of its modular data center for demonstration purposes near Tokyo – its first move in the Japanese market.
Toshiba is planning an active marketing campaign beyond Japan. The vendor said in a statement that it is targeting about $240m in annual sales of the modular data center in 2015.
The 200kVA demo unit located in the company’s Fuchu complex consists of three modules: two separate typical-container-size modules for IT and power, connected to a smaller cooling module. With IT load at 1,000kWh, the unit’s PUE is 1.3, according to a Toshiba news release.
