    1. Ensure The Quality Of Air In Data Centers “Particulate and Gaseous Contamination in Datacom Environments” may not rival Harry Potter on the bookshelves, but this new 104-page softcover is the eighth in a series put out by ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers) Technical Committee 9.9. When it comes to the effects of dust, gas, temperature, and humidity on data centers, this is the industry’s go-to resource. ASHRAE’s book comes at a time when many enterprises are looking to save energy through “air economizers,” meaning systems that pull in presumably cooler outside air, rather than leaning entirely on HVAC systems for air conditioning, and then vent the hot air back outside. Of course, with outside air potentially comes increased levels of gas, dust, and humidity. The question is whether this risk can actually translate into increased failure rates (Read Full Article)
