    1. UK proposes fourth carbon plan The UK has put forward plans for its fourth carbon budget, which will see emissions targets set through to 2027. Once approved it will set the limits the UK will work towards for reductions, which in turn will affect the amount of carbon data centers in the country can use before being taxed. It said that by the end of this year it hoped to have full package of measures introduced, including government policy on the cost of electricity for energy intensive industries such as data centers “to help them adjust to the low-carbon industrial transformation”. The UK had been working towards a goal of a 50% reduction on 1990 levels of carbon between 2023 and 2027 (the equivalent of 1950m tonnes of carbon) and it now appears it could be looking to increase that further by 2050, with an 80% reduction.
