VMware's new data center powered solely by hydroelectric power Virtualization technology provider VMware decided to practice what they preach by designing and building a data center that uses best design practices from energy efficiency standpoint and leverages extensively the vendor’s own virtualization offerings. The company is targeting an ambitions PUE figure and has entered the facility for a LEED Platinum certification by the US Green Building Council. The vendor announced the new data center’s launch on Tuesday. If the LEED application is successful, the facility will become the third data center in the US to achieve the highest-level award for sustainable desing and building practices.
