Web Hosts Report Data Centers Operational After East Coast Earthquake

August 23, 2011 -- A 5.9 magnitude earthquake based in Virginia was felt along the east coast Tuesday, but most data centers appear to be operational, at least according to Twitter where many web hosts and data center operators posted updates about their status. Buildings in Washington, Boston, New York City and other cities were evacuated after the quake, according to a report by the New York Times, and a Virginia nuclear power plant lost power but is on reserves.
