Raytheon: Boosting data center temperatures cuts energy use by 30% As the IT sustainability program lead at Raytheon, Brian Moore says he saw a chance to learn from the company's past successes to find ways to deliver even more results. For Moore and his colleagues in IT, that meant taking cues from Raytheon's efforts to improve data center energy efficiency and applying those steps to other areas. Toward that end, the IT team has focused on the company's networking and telecommunications infrastructure for the past year. "The corporate network guys run the wide-area network and the backbone, so they can do it top-down, focusing on the design of the gear," he says.
