NTT Communications Plans New Tokyo Data Center

NTT Communications has announced the start of construction on its Tokyo No. 6 Data Center, a new facility which will begin operations by June 2013. It will serve as one of the largest data centers in the Tokyo metropolitan area with 22,000 square meters (about 237,000 square feet) of space, capable of accommodating some 3,000 server racks. This new facility is being built in response to increasing demand envisioned in the Tokyo area and will offer NTT Com’s cloud services to customers in Japan and worldwide through virtualized networks using the OpenFlow standard to enable flexible management of system configurations.
