    1. SEC Scrutinizing Proximity Colo Business The Securities & Exchange Commission wants to learn more about colocation services providing low-latency access to financial exchanges for high-frequency trading, commissioner Mary Schapiro said this week. The agency says it will seek public comment about whether colo deals offering close proximity to exchanges provide an unfair advantage to traders. Schapiro said the move was part of a “thoughtful, deliberate and comprehensive review” of market operations. “As regulators, we at the SEC are mindful of the extraordinary technological advances and the benefits they have brought over the years,” Schapiro said in her Tuesday speech (text here) at the SIFMA annual conference.
