Extreme Networks (News - Alert), a provider of converged Ethernet networks that support data, voice and video for enterprises and service providers, have remodeled their Summit X650 10GBASE-T data center switch to be more greener and power efficient so that the datacenters deploying them can save power by 30 percent.
According to company officials, the company’s Summit X650 series switch is a purpose-built Top-of-Rack switch designed for emerging 10 Gigabit Ethernet-enabled servers deployed in enterprise data centers. Summit X650 helps optimize new server deployments while providing a seamless migration path from existing Gigabit Ethernet-based servers to 10 Gigabit Ethernet-based high-performance servers, to start the transition to the new virtualized environment.
