Online Tech Michigan Data Center Gets Energy Star Certification
Data center operator Online Tech said on Tuesday that its Ann Arbor, Michigan data center was the first such facility in the state to receive the US Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR certification, which indicates that the data center is in the top 25 percent of facilities nationwide for energy efficiency, as well as meeting certain performance levels for efficiency. The ENERGY STAR certification is a well-known mark applied to consumer electronics and home appliances. It wasn’t until 2010 that the EPA launched an energy star certification for data centers. More information on the Energy Star for data centers certification is available in a section of the EPA’s website.
