Fresh air cooling using air-side economizers - also known as “free cooling” - is being more widely adopted as data centers seek improved energy efficiency and lower Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) ratings. Advanced Data Centers recently hosted a meeting of the Critical Facilities Roundtable in which Peter Rumsey, the President of Rumsey Engineers, gave a presentation on the use of economizers at ADC’s LEED Platinum facility in Sacramento, Calif. ADC says its economizers are a key piece of the facility’s PUE rating of 1.12. Rumsey’s presentation spans four 10-minute videos.
