Equinix Completes $230.5M Acquisition of Hong Kong Data Center Firm Asia Tone
Data center services firm Equinix announced on Monday that it has completed its acquisition of Hong Kong-based data center provider Asia Tone in an all cash transaction valued at $230.5 million. The deal, first announced in May, will strengthen Equinix’s position in Asia-Pacific. The move also increases Equinix’s presence in Shanghai to support demand from multinational customers looking to expand in China. It also gains facilities in Hong Kong and Singapore. Equinix says Asia-Pacific is its fastest growing region, so it makes sense that it has focused a lot of data center expansion in Asia recently, including the launch of phase four of its second Singapore International Business Exchange data center in June.
