      'EUR 1 bln invested each year in French data centres' France is opening around 100,000 sq mt of new data centre space every year, reports Les Echos, citing Nelly Recrosio, the head of marketing for French power utility EDF's eco-efficient energy division. As it costs an average of EUR 10,000 to build and equip a data centre, according to Tier1 Research, the French market is worth EUR 1 billion a year. Around half of the country's data centres are owned by companies and government departments, and half by large hosting companies, such as Equinix, Global Switch and Telehouse, which lease their space to companies of all sizes.
