Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation recently announced it is providing power management support for IBM's Enterprise Modular Data Center (EMDC). As a modular solution, the EMDC enables executives to quickly respond to increased capacity demands and rising energy costs across global enterprises by deploying energy-efficient, standardized data centers. A broad range of Eaton's power quality and power distribution components integrate with the EMDC. "Eaton has supported IBM's Project Big Green for several years, working to improve data center operational efficiency by developing leading power distribution, power quality and enterprise software solutions," said Patrick Giangrosso, Eaton's global account director for IBM. Dot Hill Systems Corp., a world-class provider of entry-level and midrange storage solutions for OEMs and system integrators (SIs), recently announced it has completed qualification of Western Digital's new 2TB enterprise SATA drives, and is gearing up to launch what is anticipated to be the world's first generally available 24TB RAID storage arrays featuring a compact 2U footprint. Slated for general availability later this month, the Dot Hill arrays leverage Western Digital's enterprise-class WD RE4-GP 2TB hard drives with WD GreenPower Technology – the world's highest capacity drives – which also offer energy efficiency. Brocade recently announced that the Brocade 4 and 8 Gbps Fibre Channel (FC) host bus adapters (HBAs) have been successfully tested on the HP ProLiant server platform, and the HP StorageWorks Modular Storage Array (MSA) and Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA) disk storage platforms. The new Brocade 8000 Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) switch, which enables the consolidation of storage and IP networking ports at the server edge, will also be offered by HP to its customers.
